Dear Delegates,

I would like to welcome you to the ZYGMUN 2026 Future Committee (FUTCOM)! It is an honour to serve as your Chair as we discuss and debate the topic: Rewriting the Treaty of Outerspace in the year 2067.

The original Outer Space Treaty from 1967 is no longer adequate for the world in 2067. In this Committee, you all must work together to draft a new framework for governing space. Your new framework must account for things such as lunar colonies, asteroid mining, and commercial activity. It is your responsibility to balance national interest with the idea of space being a resource for all of humanity.

FUTCOM is a committee where delegates are encouraged to be innovative and bold. I encourage all of you to bring your best research and most diplomatic ideas to this conference, as the future governance of space will depend on the resolution we draft. I was a delegate of the Future Committee last year and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I am a current 11th-grade student at the American School of Warsaw. I was born in Germany but lived in Poland most of my life. I can speak 3 languages and am learning 2. I have been involved in MUN since 8th grade, and I am very excited for this opportunity to chair for the first time. When I am not preparing for MUN, I participate in my school's Track and Field sport in the Spring/Summer. Aside from school-related activities, I enjoy reading, baking, and watching TV shows.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I look forward to seeing all in March!

Dear Delegates,

I am very honored to welcome you to the FUTCOM Committee at ZYGMUN this year! Although this is only my second year in MUN, I have already gone to many different conferences and have been a part of many different committees. That experience has taught me that in MUN, the most important thing we learn is how to predict and understand the future of different political situations. This, in turn, led me to be in the position of a chair in this exceptional and rare committee.

Being a part of MUN has greatly impacted my life, not only by making me understand the policies and politics of different countries, but also by making me more engaged in what is happening in the world nowadays. While it might appear that it’s only a simple club, I hope that you all realize that with the knowledge that you gain from it, you can make great changes in the future of our planet. Thus, I hope that you will take the opportunity to speak up and engage, as it will be incredibly useful for you. To make ZYGMUN a worthwhile experience, I highly recommend adopting a cross-disciplinary mindset and trying your best to participate in debates actively.

As your Student Officer, I will guide you in maintaining sophisticated parliamentary procedure, while always encouraging a debate that is ambitious, ethical, and solution-oriented. My goal is to not only make the environment where all of you can come up with impactful resolutions, but also to make you feel included and welcomed.

That being said, outside of MUN, I enjoy baking, reading as many books as possible, dancing, and long-distance running (I am planning to run a 10km race soon!). I am 16 years old, and am half Polish-half Ukrainian. While I already know 4 different languages, I am also currently learning German to potentially study in Austria or Germany.

I cannot wait to meet you all at the conference in ZYGMUN this spring!

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the Future Committee! I'm so excited to co-chair such an interesting committee, in which delegates are challenged to know their nation's policy so well that they're able to apply it effectively in unpredictable situations.

Let me start by introducing myself: I'm seventeen, and an eleventh grader at the International School of Hamburg. I’m from Barcelona, but I’ve lived in Germany for most of my life, also having resided in Spain, France, and China. This is my second ZYGMUN as an external chair, but my eighth conference overall since I joined my school’s club in ninth grade. MUN is a huge part of my life, but other passions of mine include music, theatre, and journalism. I'm also a pathological vinyl collector (please ask me about my vinyl collection).

Our topic, "Rewriting the Outerspace Treaty in 2067," invites delegates to reflect on how different establishing order might be when done in outer space, rather than in the familiarity of Earth.

I've been involved in MUN for a long time, and I've encountered a variety of committees and topics that have required collaboration and lots of sacrifices. My advice for making the most out of this conference is to practice the art of compromise; every delegation will have conditions for certain solutions, so being ready to justify your clauses and adapt them as the debate progresses is imperative to succeed. Most of all, don't be afraid to take a passionate stance—it's what makes a debate memorable.

I'm looking forward to seeing you in March!

Sincerely,
