Meet the Chairs:
Zuzanna Leoniuk
American School of Warsaw Dear Delegates,
I feel honored to serve as a first-time chair in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. My name is Zuzia, and I am 17 and in the 11th grade at the American School of Warsaw. Participating in the Model United Nations program has greatly deepened my understanding of current political events, while also highlighting the vital need for people to actively understand and engage in these issues. Through MUN, I have not only gained insights into global affairs but also developed essential skills such as public speaking, collaboration, and problem-solving. This experience has taught me the importance of working with others to find constructive solutions to complex challenges. I strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to express your views and make the most of this experience. Engaging in debate, sharing your perspectives, and connecting with new people will all contribute to making this year's ZYGMUN an unforgettable and rewarding experience for you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. See you in March! Zuzanna Leoniuk Chair of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime |
Stergios Derluyn
Anatolia College Dear Delegates,
Welcome to ZYGMUN 2025! I am delighted to serve as student officer at this conference. I look forward to meeting each of you and diving into thought-provoking discussions on some of the most pressing global issues tied to this year’s theme: harnessing innovation and sustainable development to promote peace and justice. Over the years, I have participated in five MUN conferences and been an active member of my school’s debate team since 8th grade. These experiences have taught me the value of clear communication, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. Additionally, my time at Camp Rising Sun—a leadership program in New York State where I worked alongside peers from around the world—helped me grow as a leader and global thinker, perspectives I’m excited to bring to our sessions. Outside of MUN, I love exploring history, particularly the 19th and 20th centuries, honing my public speaking skills, and experimenting with international cuisine. I’m also an avid swimmer and enjoy spending time by the sea, whether it’s swimming, snorkeling, or simply appreciating the ocean’s beauty—it’s my favorite way to recharge and find inspiration. As we prepare for the conference, I encourage you to approach the topics with curiosity, creativity, and an open mind. Together, we will create a collaborative and memorable experience that leaves you feeling inspired and empowered. I can’t wait to meet you and begin this journey together! Warm regards, Stergios Derluyn |
