American School of Warsaw Dear delegates, I’m honored to serve as a first-time chair at ZYGMUN IX in the World Bank Committee. My name is Timur, and I am 16 years 16-year-old Junior at the American School of Warsaw. I was born in Turkey, but I'm also Ukrainian. I have lived around the world, which has allowed me to speak five languages. I have been doing MUN for three years and have been to five other conferences. Established in 1944, the World Bank committee aims to reduce poverty and promote sustainable economic development by providing financial and technical assistance to developing countries. During this conference, our committee will focus on tackling pressing global economic challenges and creating innovative, realistic solutions that foster equality and lasting growth. In today’s world, there are countless perspectives on global issues, and MUN is not just about debating or solving problems; it’s also about understanding and respecting views that may differ from your own. Even if you don’t personally align with your country’s stance, I encourage you to stay true to your assigned perspective and engage in honest, thoughtful debate. One of our topics will be “Ensuring Socioeconomic Stabilization and Reconstruction in Post-Conflict Syria.” It’s a difficult but important topic that makes us try to come up with a plan to help a country recover after years of war. We will debate on how to rebuild its economy, support its people, and create lasting stability. I’m excited to see the different ideas you come up with. I hope to see you all in March. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Timur Boz Chair of the World Bank Committee |

Işikkent High School Dear Delegates, It is a great honor to welcome you all and serve as one of the chairs of this year’s World Bank Committee! I’m 16 years old and a junior student who is doing the IB Diploma Program at Işikkent High School. I’m from Izmir, Turkey, and this is my third year participating in MUN and my second time serving as a Student Officer. Over the past three years, I have come to see Model United Nations as more than just debate. For me, it is a place where ideas are tested, improved, and sometimes completely rethought through discussion. From experience, I believe that the strongest committees are those where everyone feels comfortable contributing, no matter their level of experience. This committee aims to create exactly that environment. Different perspectives are not only welcome but necessary for meaningful debate. By listening to one another, questioning ideas respectfully, and working toward realistic solutions, we can make our discussions both productive and engaging. Your participation and curiosity will play a key role in shaping this experience. To make the most of this conference, I encourage all delegates to come prepared and not hesitate to share their viewpoints. A supportive and engaged committee can turn debate into a rewarding learning experience for everyone involved. Outside of MUN, interests such as windsurfing, creative projects, music, and developing language skills have helped me to shape my open-minded and balanced approach to discussion. These experiences firmly reinforce the value of expression, listening, and collaboration, which are qualities that are vital for building a strong committee. I am looking forward to seeing you all at ZYGMUN! Nil Erenel Chair of the World Bank Committee |
