I would like to begin by welcoming you all to the 7th ZYGMUN conference. To quickly introduce myself, I am 15 years old and a sophomore at the American School of Warsaw. I am honored to serve as one of the chairs for the council of the European Union. I have a great interest in international politics, foreign affairs, and public speaking. And I joined MUN to further pursue my passion for it. In my free time I like to paint and I also play sports with one of my favorites being football.
One of the topics that we have chosen for the committee this year is “Improving the Social Integration and Educational Access of Refugees”. Improving the social integration and educational access of refugees is crucial, as supportive relationships with established refugee and diaspora communities can help resettled refugees build connections with the receiving community. These connections enable access to important integration resources such as employment, volunteering opportunities, and participation in wider community activities. Addressing the legacy of colonialism in Africa is important because it recognizes past injustices, promotes fairness and human rights, preserves cultural identity, and supports the process of democracy. Colonialism had a long-lasting impact on Africa, disrupting its social, economic, and political systems. By understanding and addressing these effects, we can work towards a towards a more equitable and just future for the continent.
I look forward to working with you all in our committee sessions!
