Meet the chairs:
Dear Delegates,
The third ZYGMUN conference will be the first one I will be attending as a chair. I have participated in three prior conferences as the delegate of three different countries. With each and every debate the one thing I enjoy most is the creativity and motivation all of the delegates present themselves with. There are no moments in which people are quiet, everyone always shares their ideas and works collaboratively. As this is my first chair experience, I want to encourage a professional yet positive environment in our committee. To introduce myself, this is my 13th year attending the American School of Warsaw, and I plan to complete the IB diploma program here. Outside of school, I pursue tennis at a competitive level.
I am confident the topics chosen for this committee will engage the delegates and spark meaningful debate. This year’s theme for the conference is Good Health and Well-Being: Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. The first topic “Combating international illicit production and distribution of small arms” is one of interest for many member states. We believe this topic is highly significant in its relationship to the theme of this year’s conference as the illicit production and distribution of small arms can have a major influence on the well-being for all at all ages and it is a subject that requires much present and future discussion. Our second topic “Ensuring the security and sustainability of outer space activities” heavily relates to the current climate crisis as well as to the current rate of technological development. Keeping the theme of our conference in mind, we have decided that it is critical for member states to preserve these outer space regions to ensure the stability and security of them for our future generations and for the sake of their well being. These topics not only perfectly embody the theme but also provide great potential for a challenging but invigorating debate. I look forward to seeing you at this conference and hope to hear the voices of engaged delegates.
Zofia Konska, Chair of Disarmament Committee.

Dear Delegates,
I am excited to have this opportunity to chair the ZYGMUN 2020 Disarmament Committee. Because of my previous experience, I feel more than ready to be a student officer. I will do my best to help foster an environment of professionalism, respect, and cooperation for this committee. My goal is that all participants will learn from their peers while also having an enjoyable and meaningful experience.
Outside of MUN, I like to run for track and cross country and I also enjoy playing basketball. This year I have also joined a club that teaches and plays with refugee children, which has not only been fun, but has helped me grow as a person.
In the Disarmament Committee, one of the topics we will discuss concerns the issues of the presence of illicit arms in the world today and how we can enact policies that will reduce the production, sale, distribution, transportation, and use of illegal weapons. When countries around the world work together to decrease the presence of arms in our societies, we will see a subsequent decrease in violence and crime. These are strides that must be taken if we are to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages. I look forward to seeing all of you at the conference!
Sincerely,
Michael Malsch, Chair of Disarmament Committee
