Dragos Stafiescu American International School of Bucharest
Dear Delegates, Hi there!
My name is Dragos, I’m 16 years old, I was born and raised in Romania, and I am currently Grade 10 at the American International School of Bucharest. I am very passionate about debating, foreign policy and politics as well as programming, robotics, and everything else related to technology. ZYGMUN is my third international conference, and my first time Chairing a committee, which makes me very excited! The fourth committee of the UN, also known as SPECPOL, is focused on a range of issues including decolonization, peacekeeping efforts, and peaceful uses of outer space. Within ZYGMUN, our committee will be tackling the threats that the exploitation of resources in Latin America, and the food insecurity in South Asia pose to our modern day society. That being said, I am very excited for this conference, and I hope to play a part in making it the best MUN it can be for everyone involved!
Sincerely, Dragos Stafiescu Co-Chair of Special Political and Decolonization Committee
Matei Hotaranu American International School of Bucharest
Dear Delegates,
Hello everyone! My name is Matei, I am a 15 year old, Grade 9 student at the American International School of Bucharest. I love learning about global politics and the problems our society is currently facing. This is going to be my third international MUN conference, and I'm really excited to take part in it. Some of my other hobbies include singing, playing the piano, and watching motorsports. For this ZYGMUN conference, I will be one of the chairs in GA4 (the fourth committee of the United Nations), also known as SPECPOL. This committee specializes in solving problems related to peacekeeping in international conflicts, decolonization and prosperous use of outer space. This year, the topics that will be debated in our committee are “Tackling Resource Exploitation of Indigenous Lands in Latin America” and “Implementing Responsible Agricultural Practices for Food Security in South Asian Nations”, both issues being of utmost importance in global politics today. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and having fun debating together!
