It is with the highest honour to be one of your chairs at this year’s ZYGMUN conference for the Human Rights Committee. I am a junior at the American School of Warsaw, and have been doing MUN for around 4 years and have participated in numerous conferences such as the Johannesburg MUN and most recently BERMUN. MUN for me is a fundamental part of school as it encourages cooperation between different people as well as public speaking and in the HRC, these actions are deeply encouraged. Being an international student and living in multiple countries, I have become aware of the importance of unity that working together achieves peace and socio-economic prosperity. Hopefully, through this committee, we can create constructive resolutions and have meaningful debates. In the HRC, we will be the debating the topic of addressing the causes and consequences of police brutality, and the prevention of child marriage. As a person who has lived in South Asia and the Middle East where child marriage is predominate, I understand the importance of bringing light to the issue and through unity, these issues can be solved. I am excited for this conference because ZYGMUN is like going on a jungle safari; fun, eventful and you don’t know what to expect.
Sincerely, Mahmood Mapara Chair of Human Rights Committee
Esteemed Delegates of the Human Rights Committee,
Hello! I’m Jules Anting, I’m a freshman at the American School of Warsaw and I‘m very much looking forward to being one of the chairs for the Human Rights Committee. This is my third year participating in MUN and over these years I’ve realised that I love MUN for a variety of reasons. I love going to conferences and meeting new people, I love learning about world issues and seeing how different countries work together to solve them, and I love the way that sometimes MUN pushes me to look at an issue from a completely new perspective. Aside from participating in MUN, I enjoy sports and spending time with friends and family. Having lived in five different countries: Germany, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland, and now Poland, I have always been at international schools which may have contributed to my fascination with the way different countries and cultures interact and work together. I can’t wait to meet all of you, and I hope everyone is getting excited for ZYGMUN!
Sincerely, Jules Anting Chair of the Human Rights Committee
