I am honoured to serve as one of your chairs for this first upcoming ZYGMUN conference. This year I began 11th grade at the American School of Warsaw, and my second year of MUN. I’m relatively new to MUN, compared to some delegates that might attend our conference, but I’ve enjoyed my time in MUN greatly, and I hope as a chair I can help provide the same MUN experience I’ve had the pleasure to take part in. I’m furthering MUN experience by attending ACMUN, in Anatolia, Greece, in a few months. I’ve spent most of my life living in Warsaw, but I also lived in Maryland in the United States for four years. This year, the Political Committee has a great opportunity to engage in meaningful debate, as the topic of this ZYGMUN conference, ”Unity the key to maintaining security, peace and prosperity”, fits perfectly into the Political Committee’s role. The topics of the Political committee this year deal with territorial claims in the Gaza Strip, and with extrajudicial killings around the world. In the Political Committee, it is vital that delegates are prepared to engage in thought-provoking rhetoric, in-depth problem solving, and must be able to effectively communicate their ideas effectively to others. I look forward to both seeing all the delegates in April, and sharing the educational, dynamic and, above all else, simply fun experience the ZYGMUN will be.
Sincerely, Alex Buckley Chair of the Political Committee
Esteemed Delegates of the Political Committee,
My name is Ian Wilder, and this is my 9th year at ASW, and my 4th year in MUN. I am currently a freshman, and have attended 6 conferences in my past. This include my Middle School trips to Paris (PACMUN), which I attended twice as a delegate, and once as a chair. I was also fortunate enough to travel to CEESA MUN twice. Once to Bucharest, and once to Budapest. I have attended several committees, including the Human Rights Committee, Disarmament, and even the Security Council. However the Political Committee has always stood out for me as a committee with avid debates, and interesting topics. MUN has definitely come to shape me, and as I approach every conference, I am excited to meet new delegates, and people, from all around the world. Other than MUN, I enjoy aviation, as well as computer science. My dream has always been to achieve a pilot's license (and to become a politician. Most people don’t regard me as social, however I love to argue, and debate. It will be an utmost honour to be chairing in this conference, and I am intrigued to see what solutions you will be able to come up with. I look forward to meeting you all.
Sincerely, Ian Wilder Chair of the Political Committee
